New ADN Grad, newly pregnant - OK to wait?

Published

Just graduated with my ADN in December. I think I'm going to finish my BSN by this year since I don't think I can handle night shifts and 1st pregnancy. A few questions if any of you can help! I am so nervous...

1. Do you think I can apply to new grad programs after 1 yr of graduating with my RN? I guess I will be newly graduated with a BSN...

2. Will it be difficult to get a job 1 year after passing the boards?

3. Any insight on being a new grad and pregnant would be much appreciated too!

Thanks for all your help! This is certainly a very nerve wracking experience

Our hospital's new grad fellowship wants you to have less than 1 year experience. That is considered a new grad. Of course, I'm sure if you graduated a few years ago then it may look like you forgot things. So I would not take too long. At least apply for the job close to year and tell HR when you can start. I got the job after passing NCLEX then did not start for 3 months. No one cared. They needed nurses. It was 2020. Anyway if you are unsure then ask a friend to refer you. But as far as I can tell we still are having a nursing shortage, so apply earlier than one year.
