New Grad Moving Las Vegas

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello All,

I am a new RN grad. Ive been a LPN since '14 and recently got a ADN from Kent state in Ohio. Looking to relocate to Las Vegas. ( I cant deal with the gray in cleveland. Also not from Ohio)

Any advice to secure a hospital job? Im looking to work for a hospital. Ive applied for the HCA new grad program but havent heard anything. Do they accept ADNs from out of state? I see tons of nursing jobs, but they all require experience. Its a catch 22 sadly.

I dont want to move there without a job. I have no family/friends there to even put a Las Vegas address.

Any help will be appreciated. Im looking to move out there ASAP. I can liquidate everything and be out there within 2.5 weeks.

I would, But im still new to Allnurses forum. We can email or something. If they hired grads like crazy, get me in there!

Hello all!

Wanted to give an update, so after three interviews, I landed a job at valley medical on a med surg unit.

The base pay is way higher than what I read too! So that's a plus.

I'm just worried now. All these Californians are raising thr housing market T.T so I gotta hustle to save money!!

Thanks to all who helped and replied!

Nice, that is really great news to hear. Congratulations. Do you mind me asking what the starting wage is?

You'll like Valley. They have good people there.

And you're right, housing in Las Vegas is pretty inflated right now. Wouldn't recommend buying just yet.

Congratulations! That went fast!

Luckily for me, when I moved back in 2015, the housing prices were still low and I could buy a home for cash. While I'm very pleased that my home has more than doubled in value, I'm kinda stuck here because I can't afford to buy anything better.

Try the Valley Health System or StaRN program with HCA hospitals. They take new grads.

Hi, just saw your comment.

Unfortunately, staRn stopped taking applications by the time I was applying. i have no idea how often they do the program in a year.

VHS turned down my applications saying they’re not hiring new grads right now. ?

Hmm. You could also try UMC. I imagine the other hospital systems should reopen new grad programs soon from now.

UMC has been a little dry for new grad positions the last couple of months. The last one was for new grad IMC, but it was internal only.

Lame. How's school going Dean? Kicking your butt?
