Published

hello everyone. i'm an lpn student and i'm having trouble with my neuro sensory unit exams. can anyone recommend any websites or books or just links or tips? that would help a lot.

i am also having trouble with fluid and electrolytes. i don't understand how to differentiate uncompensated and compensated when there are lab values concerning oxygen.

For the neurosensory stuff, first learn your cranial nerves etc. We must grasp the A&P of the body and know what normal is before we can understand abnormal. As far as the ABG's, this is a pretty concise review http://www.ed4nurses.com/resources/1/pdf/ABGebook.pdf. Rmember that if the pH is outside of thenormal range, the patient is not compensated. If the pH is within normal but bicarb or CO2 are out of normal there has been compensation. Hope this helps a bit. There is a lot more information about abg and the interpretation so you really want to learn the normal values and what events cause a fluctuation in each one. :twocents:
