Netter's or Barron's Anatomy Flash Cards?

Published

Just wondering which brand of flash cards you prefer, Netter's or Barron's?

Thanks!

I used Netters. Honestly, I didn't really use them. I took my digital camera to class and took pictures of the models etc. in the lab. Then developed the pics and took a thin Sharpie and labeled accordingly like the Netters's cards. This worked well b/c the models in lab don't always look like the Netters notecard (the flashcards are basically a cartoon, if you will and the pics are 'the real thing') and sometimes there was either too much info or not enough on the card. Also, you can get angles you can't get on the Netters card. The pic allows you to put everything you need or don't need on the pic. I found my self trying to highlight the Netter's card and it would smudge, etc. It was a pain. The pics seemed to be smooth sailing. I just labeled the pic w/ numbers then filled the back the names according to the number on the front of the pic to quiz myself.

Our instructor recommended taking pictures of the slides this way. But everyone seemed to have a hard time getting them to turn out ok.

We too took pics of the slides when she put them on overhead. If you had a good enough camera, you could do it. If you didn't, you just asked a classmate if they wouldn't mind printing out a pic for you too. The instructor would then look at our pics individually outside of class and help w/ identification, since it is a little harder.

I bought Netters flashcards, and I used them to study with my 7 year old. It was a good way to kill two birds with 1 stone, spending time with her and studying, but I also took pics from a camera in the lab, from the Profs screen and of Bones. It was REALLY hard but I was even able to focus true slides in my Microscope, then put the lense for the camera at the Ocular piece and get the pic that I would be looking at for the Practical, that was hard, and I had to delete a few times, but I did have a pic at home to look at, things like Portal Triads !!!....the Lab Manuals have the best possible pics of them, but your school may not have the best possible slides, so taking pics helped

BUT !!!!!!!!

WARNING !!!!!!!!!!

As you take the pics have a pen and paper and write the # of the corresponding pic on your camera ( if you havent deleted in awhile it could be pic 405 !!! ) AND what you are taking a pic of.

One time I took about 30 pics, got them developed and had to sit with my Lab manual and try and figure out what they were, before I could even study for the test !!! very unproductive. What happened was I came home, scrolled through my pics on the digital camera, deleted the ones that didnt look good ( ie: to dark to light) , as I deleted, the # of the pic changed, and when I developed I had no idea what I was looking at !!

So after that I would write down every pic I took and the pic # it was on the camera....made things much easier !!!

I bought Barron's because there is a code in it for an online study site that you can do so many exercises that really helped me.

So I ended up buying the Barron's flash cards and I really like them! I'm actually having fun using my brain. :) I love that you can look at all the cards online - that way I get to look at them at work (I know, terrible:)).

try2banurse - can you access anything other then just the cards online? Thats all i seem to be able to do. Maybe I'm missing something?
