Net Neutrality

Oh, wow. Net neutrality is one of the last bastions of free speech. I just watched a piece about how the CDC is not allowed to use certain words or phrases in their communications, like fetus, transgender, diversity, evidence-based, and science-based. What is this thought-policing? We are entitled to free speech by our Constitution, yet our own government is restricting the speech of its agencies? Oh, h#&& to the no!

If government health agencies (and the EPA) are restricted in what they can say amongst themselves, imagine the consequences if they speak their minds in public. This uber-conservative suppression of free speech is not just wrong--it's dangerous. It hinders science and rational responses to scientific challenges. It will set health care back in ways I can't foresee, but I know that it is so.

The Internet is international communication, not just among diplomats but among civilians, ordinary people. It doesn't get any more democratic than that. Losing the freedom to communicate with other people in the world without restraint violates everything this nation stands for. I don't care if it's violent or Mediaographic. and I say that as a Christian and a feminist. It is what it is. It's people, it's reality, it's truth. You can't just stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist. To muzzle the Internet would be a heinous crime. Net neutrality is essential to the preservation of truth and free speech.

We must not be afraid to fight for our freedoms. Not with arms, but with resolve and the powers given to us by our founding fathers. End of rant.

The entire Trump Administration has been about maximizing profit for large corporations. This is nothing more than a cash grab by the telecom companies. It allows them to monetize basically everything. Want e-mail? Monthly charge. Want social media? Another monthly charge. Streaming media or music? Pay us more. And this is on top of the access charge that you are already paying. It also allows them to price smaller companies out of the market. If you run a startup company and do most of your business on the internet, get ready to be stuck big time.

I think he will explode or implode soon. Maybe the 2018 election will change things. Not sure if others have woken up out there.

Yes. Speech has been commoditized. According to the Supreme Court, money is speech, so the right to speech may soon cost money. So many people around the world can make their views known for little money, or even for free. But if the Trump administration has its way, speech over the Internet will require fees, money--this is intolerable. The wealthy of the world have no more right to express their opinions than anyone else. We cannot allow this travesty to play out--money is no measure of men (or women). All must have a voice. We must be able to speak to one another, unfettered, uncensored, unrestrained. It is only in freedom of speech that we can find truth and reality. We must NEVER let the voices of ordinary people be silenced!
