very nervous... took nclex today

Published

Hi guys,

This is my first post, but ive been a frequent visitor on the site. I just took the NCLEX today and feel like i totally bombed... i got around 140-150 questions.... i felt like i didnt know anything on the exam.. i got a lot of medication questions, a ton of priority questions and a lot of infection control questions. Is so nervous about the result. I came out of the exam thinking i failed horribly. I thought, omg, 4 years of nursing school... and i feel like i dont know anything.. i graduated with honors from my school in december.. but it feels like i've failed. I've never felt this way after any exam i've taken. I was just looking for a little support. I was wondering if anyone had similar questions? are the tons of priority and infection control questions a good sign? I just want to say thank you to anyone who responds.

Im in california.. so the wait will just kill.........

Hey there,

I took the NCLEX on Feb. 26 and I'm still waiting on the results, so we're both in the same boat as far as that nervous feeling (I'm in California too and the waiting game really sucks). I got a lot of infection control, priority, delegation, medication and two Select-all-that-apply questions. My test started off easy, and got progressively more difficult, to more advanced questions which I had no clue and pretty much guessed on, and the last 2-4 questions were easy (at least I thought they were). Out of the whole 6 hours, I finished with seven minutes left.

As more days pass, I begin to feel like I failed the exam, especially having not seen my name on the CA BRN webpage. Silverdragon has been explaining that it may take 2-4 weeks to see results on the CA BRN site, so I'm still hoping and praying that I'll get results that I passed. We just need to think positive in the mean time. We did the best we could on the NCLEX and it's out of our hands now. I totally can relate to how you feel about not knowing anything after all your years of nursing school, but I strongly believe that you wouldn't have survived nursing school if you didn't know anything. There's no way to truly prepare for the NCLEX... you just take what it gives you, give it your best shot and hope for the best! I wish you the best of luck with your results! Keep thinking positive!!!

Good luck every1!!!

Your test sounds just like mine, tons of priority, infection control off the charts, meds, no calculations. I also felt the same way as you did, as does every other one that takes that exam. I had 75 questions and passed! You sound like you were getting the harder level questions, which is a good thing. I am in a state with quick results, so I did not have to wait. Hang in there and keep us posted, I am sure we will be calling you RN soon. Good Luck!:nurse:

Just hang in there until you get results. Ca website now indicates 2-4 weeks to get results and they are also now closed 2 Friday's a month so that will also slow things down

Good luck

hey nurse joker..... a lot of people i went to school with got their name on the board of nursing website under permanent license within like 4-5 business days of taking the exam if they passed. There are other factors too though like if your applicant file is complete or what not..... i just hope they do it fast.... i came outta the exam crying... it was not a good feeling.... and i felt the same way... the last 2-3 questions i got were easy... and i know i got them right........ i just dont know what to think tho...... have you tried the pearsonvue trick that was posted? im not sure how reliable it is.... but it doesnt let me go to the credit card screen.... im hopeing thats a good sign......

i went through some of the questions i got... and theres really no way of knowing because i seemed to have gotten half wrong and half right.... :(
