Nervous about TEAS 6

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

I just received my ATI TEAS 6 study guide and started reviewing the material. There is a lot of material to cover and I'm getting a little nervous about taking the test. Overall, I'm a pretty good test taker but I wanted some input from others who have already taken it. I also wanted to know if there are some areas I should be focusing on more than others. Thanks in advance!

Same here. I've been looking up videos on how to study, what to expect, and even considering getting a tutor to help me on my weak areas.

Hi, I have not taken it yet, and probably won't have to till next year. However, I have some info to share. First, some schools may look at all of the subsections of the test while others may only look at a few. For example, one of the schools I will be applying to only looks at reading and math subsections of the test. They said they do not care how well/bad one did on the science, for example. Second, it is a good strategy to do your first practice test without studying. The reason is, upon completion of the practice test the results will indicate what your weakest area(s) are. Once you know what they are, you will have a more clear idea where to start. For example, after taking your first practice test, the results indicate that your weakest area is reading, specifically, MAIN IDEA. Now you know what you should study hard!!!

I hope it helps!

I've been looking up information to help me prepare and study for the new teas exam. I did come across some helpful youtube videos. If anyone is looking for additional assistance, check out nurse academy on youtube. They provide great helpful videos for the teas 6 version.

Hi, I took my TEAS on Friday and scored a 90%. I'm happy to answer questions.

A good starting point is taking a practice test (ATI has two that you can purchase, I would really recommend buying these, if you can afford them). A practice test will give you an idea for the format of the exam, as well as your weakest areas to start focusing on.

congrats on passing the test ! i will be taking in it next month and I'm really afraid of the math portion i really struggle with word problems were there a lot of them?

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your pointers. I took the test and I passed! The minimum score for my school is 58. I got a 69. It was very challenging but taking practice tests prior to taking the test did make me more prepared. I usually struggle with math and do very well with reading comprehension and grammar. However I scored higher in math. I found that interesting. Anyway, I'm so happy to get it out the way and be able to continue with the nursing program!!

congrats on passing !! were the math and science questions covered on the ati book? or was it way different I'm taking mine on feb 3 and i am so scared. the science is a lot to study I'm making my own notes right now.
