anyone else?? im starting to freak out. In a way i am really confident i can handle this and am gonna succeed but i am hearing negativity from other former nursing students about who failed etc. I understand everyone is under a lot of stress but i like POSITIVITY.
ok, done venting lol anyone else wanna join it?
Your post sounds exactly like my post from 2 weeks ago! Below were my scores:
dx=63
qt1=53
qt2=70
qt3=55
qt4=63
qt5=63
qt6=68
qt7=61
readiness=73
qbank avg=57 (all new questions.) I brought it up to a 71% before I took the nclex.
I took the nclex on july 1st. I had 75 questions w/18 SATA. I found out yesterday that I passed!! I redid all of my qtrainers until my scores were above 70% (I really don't think that's necessary though.) I also thought the nclex questions were easier than kaplan, esp the SATA questions. Just do all of the questions from qbank and understand the rationales and you'll do GREAT!! Best of luck to you!
After taking the NCLEX I think the most important thing to do is to stay calm. Every time the anxiety became blinding, I just did a mind-stopping thing where I said to myself:
"This is not a big deal... the worst thing that can happen is you have to take it again in a few few weeks! Is that really so bad? You get to delay working and I bet being a new nurse is a LOT scarier than the NCLEX, lol!"
That helped calm me down, when I felt like the pressure was off.
With that said, your scores are pretty good by kaplan standards... but I would figure out why you are scoring below the passing range. If it is because you get nervous and overwhelmed by the way kaplan words questions, then be assured that things are a little more straight forward on the NCLEX (the NCLEX questions are more like the Kaplan soft balls - still hard, but not "OMG *** ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT" where you barely know what they are looking for)
If it is because your nursing knowledge is not up to par - and that is the reason why I was having trouble in Kaplan early on - then go through the kaplan book, and other reviews, to brush up on your nursing knowledge. Infection control, ambulation/skeletal type questions are very common, it's not just a rumor, make sure you know those. Once I brushed up on my knowledge (via the questions, and the study guide) I was answering more quickly and scoring better.
Make SURE you review the questions you got wrong on kaplan as this is crucial to helping fill in your knowledge base gaps.
I barely got any qs from specialties, but this may be not typical.
Good luck.
