Nervous - Entering RN Class at 3rd Semester

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I am an LPN, who just completed a bridge semester at the local CC. In January I will step into the 3rd semester of an RN cohort that has been together for the last 2 semesters. I am aware that I am taking the place of a student who didn't survive Semester 2. That alone carries a huge amount of baggage, especially if the student/s who are no longer with the program were popular with their peers.

I'm worried about being accepted by the other students. Nursing is a lot easier when you're part of a team. Can anyone help me out with tips or stories that can help met in without ******* anyone off?

If you were entering my cohort and brought cookies the first day of class, You would be happily welcomed. My cohort loved when people brought in brownies during finals.

Honestly? I jumped around sections that I didn't recognize half the students to begin with. Also, we had people that would transfer in or would fail so they would go backwards to our section that it didn't really matter too much. While there can be some cliques that develop, overall most students are polite and nice and just want to get their work done. Or they're like me and just want to get the stuff done and out of there so I can go to work.

I knew people and talked to them, but there was no guarantee that they were in my next class. Heck, there were four or five people who I "must know" but had never noticed before. Maybe we were lucky because we were the bigger campus with three groups that would run. I jumped between them. I think first semester I was "A" then I went to "C" (which was nights)" and then I went to B and C (I did two lecture/clinical classes at the same time. Then I think I may have been A again.

Clinical groups were helpful in meeting new people. I bonded with those people and I'd share information like study tips or reassure them.
