as a neonatal nurse your participation in an important pain survey is being requested. this survey is based on a pain survey developed by patricia j. byrd, rn, msn that was reported in [color=#221e1f]"exploring barriers to optimal pain management in neonatal intensive care units", advances in neonatal care, [color=#00008b]december 2009 -volume 9 - issue 6. the survey has been modified to include information on elective intubation practices in addition to other commonly performed minor procedures in the nicu.

this modified survey is being conducted by a nurse scientist who is also a neonatal nurse practitioner and is expected to provide a rich data base of procedural pain practices in our nicus from a national perspective.
