Neep Help! I've failed TWICE

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I started out 3 years ago getting my LPN. Passed my LPN boards first time no problem. I recently graduated from RN school is December of 2008, after having to repeat a semester. It's been a very rough road. Well I took the Nclex for the first time in Feb, after 105 questions the computer shut off. At the time, I just reviewed questions and didn't really "study". After finding out I failed I was devestated. I immediatly enrolled in the Hurst review-online, I bought a Kaplan review book and I did the Medpub review. This time I was for sure I knew what I was doing. After 265 questions I didn't know what to think. I knew once I got to question 180 I was going to take all the questions. Well I got tricked into it, and paid to get the unoffical results. I just found out today, for the 2nd time I failed. Failure is such a hurtful thing. I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I've done every review out there. Answered every practice question there was. The biggest thing is my boss is constantly on my tail about it. I mean that's the first thing she asks me about when she see's me. I know it's going to suck when I have to go see her on Monday and tell her I failed. Blah!! Oh yah I've worked in L&D since I graduated from LPN school. My first question is, do you think this is the reason I failed. Because I never got that Med-Surg experience. My other question is what do I do now, how can I increase my knowledge and my test scores. I want this to be over so bad but don't want to rush it again. Any suggestions on how to study, or what materials to use? I just don't know anymore.

Thanks!!

Personally looking at too many resources can do as much damage as not enough. Just before I took it the third and final time I discovered Saunders and found that a much better book. I also liked learningext.com extension of the NCSBN (they are the ones to devise the questions on the NCLEX) Practise doing questions and keep practising. Read the rationale even if the question is right as it will either confirm your reasons for picking the right question or point you in the right direction if wrong

Thanks for the advice!

This time just use one resource and study as if you had never tested before. Wishing you good luck.
