Needing some advice....

Hello! I am currently taking my last semester of pre-reqs at HCC. Nursing school starts August 2012. Times are tough (as in, hubs' paycheck just went down and our mortgage just went up) and I need to get a part time job. Having 4 kids and a hubby and house to take care of makes me think I need a night shift for a couple nights a week. I prefer something that is in a hospital or nursing home or just anything that has anything to do with healthcare so I can gain some experience. My problem is that I have been a stay at home mommy for 10 years and have now been taking my pre-reqs for a year to get into the program. I don't really know how to go about getting a job like that. Two or maybe three nights a week would be enough to help us get by. Can any of you offer any advice on how I should go about looking for a job? I am willing to do the grunt work! :) Thanks!

Pretty much the only 'round the clock' positions in most health care settings are nurses... I would suggest that you get your CNA certification ASAP and then start applying. This may push your pre-req's back a bit, but it would seem that re-prioritizing may be needed in order to cope with your economic changes. You didn't say whether you had already been accepted into NS or not, but at any rate, it will still be there even if you have to postpone your start date. Obligations to your family should always come first. Best of luck to you.
