Need Opinions on LTC/ICF in Northern Virginia

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Well, I am moving to Arlington (from Hawaii) this Saturday, the 24th. Naturally, I am nervous about finding a job.

I have many years of experience in LTC/ICFs as an RN. I was looking at the Inova webite for possible job openings, and see that they have several LTC/ICFs in Northern Virginia. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of which places would be the best to apply to? Or any other suggestions? (You can send me a PM if feel like it!)

Also, what constitutes an RNII ? I am not familiar with the numbering classification for RNs.

And my third question: Virtually all of my scrub tops have a bright Hawaiian print--will this be OK to wear in Virginia, or do I need to run out and get some scrubs that are more plain? Seriously...

In the Inova system, RN I = new grad. All new grads are at the RN I level for the first year. Then by virtue of survival, an RN I will become an RN II after a year. Most RNs are hired at the RN II level, and then you can apply to the clinical ladder for promotion to RN III, then RN IV.

The only facility I know anything about is Inova Loudoun's Nursing and Rehab Center (LNRC). Nice folks there. :) No, I don't work there, but I do know they just won a national quality award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.

The downside -- LNRC is kind of a haul from Arlington. You might prefer the commute to Inova Commonwealth Care (Fairfax) or Inova Cameron Glen (Herndon).

Not sure about the scrub tops -- I don't think people will complain much about bright scrubs, though. Cheery! :)

Good luck!!

Thanks, Lunah!

Appreciate the feedback.

Aloha and welcome. Just wanted to say that Hawaii nurses rock! I was only hospitalized once in my life...in Hilo, HI.

They took excellent care of me and kept me well stocked with guava juice. SO yummy!
