I have just passed my boards and recieved my RN license. So I began to look for jobs. I applied for several hospital jobs, because that is what I am interested in. However I have a concern. I am concerned that I will not get a job anywhere. I have no interest in working LTC, and have done much of that as an LPN.
Now I have a job as an LPN (now an RN) in an assisted living facility. But I really want to work in the hospital. Doing my clinicals at the hospital was a lot of fun. Hospice is another option, but perhaps later down the line. Anyone know how long it takes to look over job applications? I just applied last thrus-fri. I know its monday, but the waiting game is kicking my butt.

The economy is in the tank right now and there are far more new grads wanting work than there are hospital jobs available. Some here have been looking for six months to a year or more and have applied for hundreds of hospital positions. Without an inside connection the odds of getting hired at the hospital are slim in most parts of the country. Keep applying.

Sorry you're having such a hard time getting your RN career started. Hopefully, things will turn around for you really soon.
However, you may want to check with your BON to see if you are on shaky ground in your current "LPN" job even though you are an RN. You are now legally responsible for practicing at an RN level, no matter what your job description says. . this can put you between a rock and a hard place with your employer. Not saying you should quit until you can get another job, but there may be some potential areas of liability & you need to be cautious.
