Need a nurse or nursing student to interview

Published

Hi I am taking a nurse course and For my  first assignment, I have to find a nurse or nursing student to interview.

Ask your interviewee these questions :

What attracted you to the field of nursing?

What do you like best about your school/job?

What do you like least about your school/job?

What is one thing about your school/job that turned out to be completely different than you expected?

What is one piece of advice that you would give people considering the field of nursing?

Hi Shintena! Happy to help...hopefully I'm not too late!

I'm an ADN student going into my second year...I'll also be pinned as an LPN this month.

What attracted you to the field of nursing?

I grew up around the medical profession because my mom was in hospital management and from there a seed was planted. I always had an interest in the operations and equipment as a child. As I got older, I was the person that my friends called on when they needed to know "medical stuff"...little did I know they were planting seeds! I endured some major health issues (kidney disease, dialysis, transplants, renal cell carcinoma), and became "good" at researching, learning about medications, and best of all advocating for myself and others! I have an enormous amount of respect for nurses as well as the desire to help others like me. Ultimately, I knew that I was healed for a reason, and that this is my calling.

What do you like best about your school/job? (School) I love the growth that I see in myself though I had to learn to trust the process. I love the people in my cohort that are now part of my life. Also my school is very supportive and I know that if ever I need anything from faculty they are reachable and willing to help.

What do you like least about your school/job?

The minimum passing score is 80%. 🥲

What is one thing about your school/job that turned out to be completely different than you expected? I never expected to be awarded multiple scholarships from the school and hospitals since I am considered an out of state student. Such a blessing!

What is one piece of advice that you would give people considering the field of nursing? There are a million-gazillion stories from other people, and maybe even reasons not to pursue it, but YOUR story is YOUR story....YOUR journey is YOUR journey!! So do what YOU were called to do!

I pray you have MUCH success in your nursing journey!

Hi DWNurseGirl313!  Thank you so much I appreciate you responding back and no you are not too late 😃.

Thank you for also telling me your story  and not allowing your health concerns to get in the way of you pursuing your dreams!
