Hi! I am a new grad in ohio, still waiting on my ATT to take my NCLEX..in the meantime I am looking for jobs, which seem few and far between..I had heard NC had a huge need for nurses. My husband and I were looking to relocate to the Raleigh or possibly Charlotte area..my question is, can new grads find jobs easily down that way?? Through my looking it seems as if everyone wants experience and they have these fellowships for new grads, most of which only show one or two jobs if that. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows if I can apply to jobs down there once I am licensed in Ohio, before I get endorsement down there?? I would also appreciate if anyone knows of specific locations or hospitals that have a need and are willing to hire new grads..Thanks!!!

I am from the Raleigh/Durham area. This area is saturated with nursing schools (chapel hill, duke, nccu, greensboro, etc) which means many students looking for jobs. Yes we have excellent hospitals; however, I do not think the triangle area is hiring many nurses. If you like the state, I would say more rural hospital areas are hiring more than the triangle. If you choose to relocate to the triangle, I know wake med and chapel hill pay more than duke and Durham regional. But duke does have a good new graduate program. Good luck! P.S. tips about housing: raleigh-expensive, cary: expensive, chapel hill: you can find good deals if your not looking directly in town, Durham: be selective about where you live but cheaper housing.

Thanks for the info...I kinda figured just from what I see searching for new grad jobs. My husband and I want to move our concrete business down south some where. We were looking at Charlotte possibly also if anyone knows if the situation is just as bad for new grads that way..Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated....no luck so far trying to get a job where I am now...not even a phone interview.

I forgot to mention that there is a VA hospital in Durham which is normally hiring. Their website lists job opportunities. Worth looking into!

The Charlotte area is also saturated. There are so many nursing schools around we have new grads still looking from a year ago. Good Luck in your search.
