What hospital will you be working at? First off, Las Vegas is totally different than Ohio (I come from the midwest as well). In terms of decent locations to live, there are many. You stated you will be living near ULV - do you mean UNLV? Housing is pretty expensive out here, and many different areas to live. I would personally recommend living in the Henderson/Green Valley area or the Summerlin area. Living download Las Vegas is pretty shabby in most locations. There are some locations that are pretty nice. Are you buying a house or renting an apartment? If you are renting, I would have to say that a typical 3 bed 2 bath apartment/town home in a decent area of down will cost around $1100 - $1300 a month + utilities. It is really up to your living style. =)

In terms of living in Las Vegas, the main downfall is TRAFFIC. Las Vegas is an overcrowded city and traffic is overcrowed as a direct result. For example, I work approximately 15 miles away from my home and it takes me approximately 40 minutes to get to work in the morning and an hour to get home.

In terms of entertainment, it has everything that any other place would have. If you are into gambling, then you will be on cloud 9. I don't recommend the gambling though. The strip isn't usually a hang out place for the locals because it is packed with tourists and VERY expensive. A lot of the local casinos are very nice as well. If you are into nature, hiking, biking, etc., there are many recreational areas. We also have Mount Charleston which has snow for snow boarding and other winter activities.

If you have any other specific questions, just ask. :)
