I will be looking for a job between now and when I start nursing school, and I want to get my feet wet in a hospital setting. Please give me some ideas of what I can do and approximate pay. I have a teaching background, lots of child care experience, and I'm very organized, if this helps you help me- thanks!!

I'd go apply for an aide position in a hospital. When our new aides come on, they rarely have prior experience and get great training. Make sure the hospital knows you are in nursing school and that is your motivation in seeking an aide position (this helped me acquire a nursing asst position when I had no experience in health care). Working as a nursing assistant during nursing school REALLY went a long way for me both in school and afterward. I worked at an assisted living facility for elderly folks and did the personal care, meds, appts, etc for 12 to as many as 18 residents a shift. Let's just say it wasn't hard for me to "learn" prioritization after that.
