I'm looking for another resource for my Community Service Paper on Adult Day Care Center nursing.
Specifically, things I would like to know are:
1) A description of the center and how it serves your particular community
2) Do you have a mission statement for your facility? If yes, what is it?
3) Are you a government or non-government agency?
4) How do you utilize RN's, LPN's and LNA's in your facility?
5) What services do you offer your clients? Will an RN or LPN accompany them to a Dr. appt/PT appt/dietary appt? Do you work closely with a client's Dr. if they have special needs? Do you offer transportation to and from your facility?
6) What limitations do you have as to which clients you can and cannot accept? Such as those that are bedridden, incontinent of stool, on heavy narcotics, etc.?
Please PM me if you'd like, and I will provide you with my email. I would like to be able to include your full name and state you are licensed in in my Bibliography. Thank you! :)

Whitney - I am sorry you have not had a response yet ... let me see if I can help answer some of your questions .... here goes:
1. Adult day care centers are generally open M-F and serve the community as a place of respite for families as well as patients. Most adult day care centers employ a small clinical staff as well as activity staff.
2. Not being involved in an adult day care .... I do not know of a mission statement, although I can not imagine an adult day care without a mission statement in this day and age.
3. Most agencies that I am familiar with are generally not for profits that are not associated with a government agency. I know in Florida, many of the adult day programs are sponsored by an agency called Senior Friends .... these are non-government related and not-for-profit.
4. The clinical staff in the facility are used to assist and provide care to the patient/client when they are there. The RN generally directs the clinical program, the LPN deals with medications and the Nursing Assistants deal with care related issues. There is also an activity staff that plan and direct social and recreational programs throughout the day. For most adult day care programs, there true calling card is the social programs .... these are what help the clients want to come back day after day!
5 & 6. Unfortuantely, because I am not invloved in an adult day care situation, I really can not answer those two questions .... perhaps someone can give me some assistance here.
Good luck with your project.
