I would really like to know more regarding hospitals in Asheville as well. Which ones/which units have the reputation for treating their nurses well and for being a drama-free workplace with a good team? I come with armloads of recommendations regarding my people skills...but I am a newby nurse.
Any knowlegable replies/input would be so appreciated!

I used to work at Mission about 7 years ago. I worked in Peds, PICU, NICU, PASU...I loved Peds and PASU.they both were excellent work environments at the time. I haven't a clue what they pay now but most hospitals are somewhat competitive with them. Most hospitals will not pay the new nurse well..obviously,....but after probation you should get a raise.
Surrounding hospitals:
Mission
Park Ridge
Haywood Regional Medical Center
Pardee
those are the main ones.....
Good luck!!!

Hi, I work mission now. Not a bad place to work. Alot of travlers stay. They like the nurse patient ratio, availbilty of equipment compared to their travel assignments. As for any newbys, nurses do eat their young but the floor I work really goes out of the way to make you feel comfortable, can't speak for the rest of the place. Goodluck

Hey All,
I am a new grad (May 2006). I am also a employee of Mission on St. Joseph campus. I have had a WONDERFUL experience as an employee. The staff has been VERY supportive and helpful to me. I also have had a wonderful orientation (3 months). My precepter was very supportive and when things needed improvement or etc.I was offered constructive critism-I have never been "eaten by being young." Each unit provides different lenghts of orientation depending on the area you are hired in on and how you are progressing. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Good Luck.
Where did you get your Degree mim-o?

Do these hospitals you are talking about have PICC line or IV teams? My plan has been to relocate to North Carolina. I probably won't for a while yet but It is interesting to hear you guy talking about it. I mean you make working in this area sound really pleasant and that is always good to hear.
