Need Info on South University

Published

Hi, I was wondering if anyone on here is currently a student or a graduate from South University? I am looking into their BSN program in West Palm Beach. Do they have a good reputation? What is the approx. cost if all pre-reqs are completed? What is the schedule like? How are the instructors? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I didn't attend South University. However, I considered their program. The tuition is expensive. If you click on the request information link and enter your contact info, they are rather quick with returning phone calls. The administration there was very nice. It is a small campus, just two office buildings.

Sure. Send me a pm or post your questions on one of the BC threads. I would hate to hijack the OP's thread about South University. :)

i attend South, the nursing tuition $50,000 but next year it will increase. the nclex passing rate is 73% pretty low if you as me compared to the community colleges. im a sophmore there but i got a wake up call and decided not to attend their nursing program because its too darn expensive. the schedule is 8.30-3. the teachers are nice, its a small campus. they are in the process right now building a new university out west on belvedere the pictures look nice. but until then you will attend the small site. good luck. if you have the money go for it if not shoot for other intitutions ...its the same learning and we all take the same state boards and get the same license:)

Isn't there tuition like 4,000 a semester for 10-12 credits?...oh and I know they work on express terms I still don't fully understand it but its a 7 semester long program and people that I spoken to who are in the program say it is intense....as far as the pass rate you would be surprise what other universities were in the 70's

They operate on the quarter system. So does BC's nursing program. The courses are 8 weeks instead of the usually 16 week semester.

semester for prerequites are $4500 for 10-12 credits, nursing school is $7000 and change.

you will need to have 90 pre req credit hours, take the Teas exam with Crititcal Thinking part before you can apply to their program. they have 32 seats per application period.

after all that is done and you are accepted, the program is 18 months long then you'll graduate with your BSN.

say for example you start the program right, almost everyone has a out of pocket fee. if you dont pay your out of pocket for the next semester you get dropped like hot pancakes from the program. or if say you cant get a loan cause the banks have tighten up their loaning standards even with a cosigner (that happen to many students this semester) you get kicked out also.

some of my friends are kind of upset, but you really cant blame the school they need their money and if you cant pay you dont have a seat. i say blame the government all this bailout money they giving these companies and students cant even get a private loan to go to school. makes me mad rrrrrrrrrrrr. instead they go on extragant vacations in their private jets etc.

honestly as my many nurse friends tell me "its not worth finishing nursing school with a $80,000 student loan behind you" you wont be able to enjoy a decent standard of living after school unless you got full paid scholorship or you have a rich daddy. good luck on your decision!!!!

2bnurse-1,

you are right!!! "i say blame the government all this bailout money they giving these companies and students cant even get a private loan to go to school. makes me mad rrrrrrrrrrrr. instead they go on extragant vacations in their private jets etc."

if the goverment was to bail them out, what are the odds of repeating going into debt???

i'm currently enrolled into excelsior college, i will be expelled by the end of this month if i can't pay the rest of my tuition to which i can't. financial aid student loans is not eligible for asn.

i'm currently enrolled at south university taking prereqs using student loans. i hate this economic crisis. i hate politics. should we start pointing fingers? it wasn't like this until usa went to war. if doctors, nurses can be liable for negligence, so should those who provided false intelligence that gave the okay to go to war.
