I have an idea - can you change papers with the person who sits next to you? What about that nice lady who sits behind you everyday?
Seriously though... uummm... what's a "change paper"?

Are you talking like a change agent? I remember this but i threw it way back to the back of the brain. IF i remember a little,, it has to do with whether you as a nurse can be effective by helping to ease your co-workers into a change in policy, procedure or if you go the other way,, cant remember the name for it though.. GEEZZZ,,

What is it that bugs you the most at work? I wrote my change paper about the way that the psych meds in the long term facility (jail) I worked in always seemed to run out about 3 days before the psychiatrist came in to renew them. After my paper was finished and I got an A on it, I went back to the DON and administrator and they implemented my ideas. Granted, it gave me a little more work to flip through the MAR's looking for meds about to run out, but it is still being done 2 years later and that small aspect of care has become better.
Well, it's interesting to know that not all nursing schools are requiring this.
ok, here are the directions. "assess a semi-directed or indirect nursing situation in which a need for change is identified. This is not a nursing care plan. Focus on changes in the nursing unit management procedures. Propose a detailed plan. Develop criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. Apply systems theory. Reflect changes in the big picture"
My problem is I am not currently in a clinical area and can't think of any things that need changing.
I was thinking about writing a paper about starting an IV team that went around and changed tubing and dressings but have no place to get the info on how that set up would work. Thanks.

ocicat,
i just finished a seminar of this nature...and i can throw out some ideas that may help to stimulate your imagination :-)
theories we used were rosswurm & larrabee, ottawa model for change, stetler.
topics (given to us) were ort instead of ivt for kiddies w/ gastro and mod. dehydration, teaching kegels post-partum to decrease urinary incontinence, and teaching type 1 diabetics to self-manage insulin (change their own dose of insulin based on what they want to eat).
best of luck!!
