Need Help With Balloon Pump!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a patient that will be on na balloon pump and I really dont know that much about them. I aam a new nurse in an ICU and want to know alittle about what to expect. Does anyone know of a website that I can go to for information?

thank you for these sites they are great! i am a new nurse not in icu, but i do work in tele quite a bit, & the ekg strips are confusing to me. these sites are really going to help me figure this stuff out! there is so much information on here.....i can't wait to study/read it! thanks!

I wanted to assure everyone that posted that I was with my preceptor all the time. There is no way they expected me to handle this by myself. I learned alot the 2 days I had this pt. She did develope a hematoma under the balloon insertion site and we had to pull it. She was non-responsive to any stimuli, she was down too long before she came into the hospital.
