im a registered nurse graduated 2010 and pass the board the same year my problem is this, it may sound insecure but i really need some help
i spent 6 years in college because of lazziness, failed 1 major subject ncm 101 and stop 1 semester (summer) but when i entered my last year in college i promise that Ill pass the board exam with one take and i did pass, my board rating is 78% only im currenty working as a volunteer in a primary hospital, im in my 6 month ryt now and planning to have my IVT and bls and acls soon,
my question is this, is my 6 years in college and a 78% board rating will be a problem with my application?
im planning to apply in big hosptals in manila next year
can you guys give some suggestions on trainings that i need to take to boost my resume, honestly im not confident with my credentials

There are some hospitals that require you to have a board rating of 80% or above when you apply. Since your academic and board credentials are not your strongest asset, I suggest you make it up by getting a good evaluation from your volunteer experience. You could ask for a recommendation letter from your preceptor so that when you get interviewed in the big hospitals, you have proof of good clinical performance. Just remember not all the topnotchers or cum laudes are the ones that perform the best in the real world of nursing. The people who have the right attitude & confidence are the ones that do.

wow... We have the same situation here...Me too, I spent 6 years in college (6 yrs bec. during my 1st year in Chinese Gen, I find it HARD to pass my math and english subjects, even my nstp, philosophy and other minor subjects because they are really fond of failing students as if that freaking mathematics and the minor sbjects are your main ticket to be a nurse, plus they were looking for the best students in the metro....I did my best during that time but still I didn't make it and that really affect my entire life in nursing. I promised myself to be committed in nursing and whatever happens, I will never surrender my course!
now, I have problems with my resume... I feel helpless but i can't do anything to change it. The harm has been done. but atleast I have an 80.40% board rating,,,,and passed the nrsing board exam. That makes me feel happy and deserving to be in this institution. So no matter what will happen, or what will my employers will ask me, I will just be MYSELF. I deserve to work as a nurse because I passed the nursing board exam, I always have the heart of a nurse in my spirit. No matter how I am dumb and stupid at math and memorizations, I have the a heart of a nurse. A passion to serve others, and I think that's the ultimate weapon that a nurse will have... :-)

I agree, hehe. I had a hard time too specially with math. But I don't think the numbers would really matter if you're passionate to be a nurse.

:) I agree with what DILM said.
Most of the hospitals I have inquired, they require ivt and bls, there are also those which do not require you to have them but taking them can be an edge.
