Im really new at this and I need help. Im a first semester student and
I have 2 case studies that I need help with:
1) 67yr old man of italian descent lives with his wife of 40 yrs was just recently diagnosed with diabetes. He is frightened because his mother died from complications of diabetes when she was 68 yrs old. He is overweight at 230lbs. and states " I have to eat my pasta every sunday."
2) 19yr old female with new infant girl and she has no idea how to take care for an infant. Her husband travels alot, he is truck driver and is on the road for days at a time. Her parents live 200 miles away.
I need to state the following, the learning need for the client, the domains of learning, and the available resources for the client.

your mind should never be blank. we have the nursing process to help us. the nursing process is the problem solving method that we use and that is what you use to help you out. the steps of the nursing process are:
the first thing you do for each scenario is make an assessment of the information you have, then determine what you patient's problem(s) are. that leads you to planning the teaching that will be required. the information that you gathered during your assessment is going to give you some specific areas to focus on (ex: the diabetic is particularly afraid of the complications of diabetes since his mother died from them, so you will need to taper his teaching with emphasis on the complications.)

this site has all kinds of information on infant care, but you should be able to find many more on the internet to look at to give you teaching ideas:
