Hello im a new grad with ccurrent RN license in ohio. My license have restrictions on them based on a misdemeanour assault that is 5 yrs old n a dismissed petty theft charge that is 1 yr old. Im currently looking for work and was told by the BON that I would be able to find work if I looked outside the box. Does anyone know of places that will consider me for employment in the dayton ohio or cincinnati ohio area?

Were any of your records sealed or expunged?

No unable to get them expunged related to privious traffic violations of 4 speeding tickets in one year the judged ruled that the speeding tickets classified me as a prior misdemeanour and that the law stated it could only be expunged if no prior misdemeanour.

Ok cus my cases where expunged so im wondering if my licence will have a restriction or not.

I would just apply to anything/everything that you can: many facilities consider felony/misdemeanor convictions on a case-by-case basis so you will never know what your outcome will be until you try. In the meantime, I would try to get together letters of recommendation that could help vouch for your character and the fact that you've learned from your past mistakes, as well as information on any programs that you may have completed (e.g., anger management, driving school, whatever is applicable).

Best of luck!

Good luck. Do not ever go before the OBN or talk to them over the telephone. Immediately consult an an attorney to represent you. The OBN will do whatever they can to punish you and make it immpossible to work as a nurse. They will make you feel like they're trying to help you and be fair and that you shouldn't worry. This is a lesson I learned the hard way. I went before the OBN in 2002 for not reporting a now expunged "attempted drug abuse" misdemeanor conviction that dated back to 1991. They gave me a 10 year consent agreement with restrictions. It took me 2 years to find employment. I worked that position for 8 years and had to quit when I remarried and moved further than I could commute. I didn't realize that I had to be employed for my time to tick off. So now I am faced with the impossible task of finding a job with this consent agreement that I've been jumping through the hoops for 10 years now. The blow back for past indescretionst is worse than it ever was. I have applied for every single vacancy in this region over the last 3 months. I have over 30 years of nursing experience (BSN and ANCC board certified) in virtually all areas of acute care. I can not get a single offer of employment when they find out I have a consent agreement (and I have no narcotics restrictions). I have excellent references and a proven record of strict adherence to my consent agreement without fail. I am now 54 years old and look back at how stupid I was back 20 years ago before I stopped using drugs. I could just puke every time I think about it. In recovery, they say you will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. Lately that has changed for me.....every time I get turned down for employment.
