if you're not ready, it's okay to reschedule, but don't keep putting it off because you're only lengthening what's supposed to be already over. i was thankful that i re-scheduled once, but that was it. i pushed myself to study what i need and do what i have to do.
regarding kaplan, on a personal note i found it to be hard. i'm an international student myself and i found the questions challenging. i did not find their decision tree very helpful, and i found that i still used the knowledge i have of the concepts.
i myself, have had below the passing ranges. but because i worked hard especially near the end, i found that they have improved and my question trainers 5, 6 and 7 even went all the way up to 60%. my qbank of 50 items would sometimes also give me a 40-50% range, which is, very depressing. earlier, i would vent and ask people their scores because i was worried.
but i wanted to do this for my family, for myself, and for this person who didn't treat me well. i wanted to prove to them that i could do it. so on my test date, i knew i was ready. and i was right. i passed with 75qs on the first try =D you can do it too, i know u can. just have lots of faith in yourself and in God. keep praying and He will guide you as you take it. Goodluck! let me know if i could help.
try practicing on Exam Cram and use any good book as reference. i used an old one that i got from the Philippines and i believe it helped me tremendously. also, i would try answering from different resources such as Saunders 4th edition, and Prentice Halls. i did not finish it cover to cover, only a few pages. i wanted to see how i would do on other resources. i probably answered a good 200-300 items on different books. also, make mnemonics and write down notes of the questions you got wrong. and i would honestly even post stuff on my wall just to help me remember. look for good website that would help you in topics that you're weak at, like Pharmacology. study the drugs they give on TV. i found those to be the bulk of my exam(last August 09). and study the common side effects. you don't have to study Pharm cover to cover. i did not even read the drug portion of Kaplan's course book, or any drug book for that matter. just learn the basics by heart and you'll do well.
Good luck!
i know..its all upto me...gotta do some hard work on my weak areas...
thax for your post...it helps!!:redpinkhe

The NCLEX Hospital is NOT THE REAL WORLD!
Correct responses are Textbook answer
You will have enough staff and equipment to properly care for the patients.
You only have one patient in the NCLEX hospital so choose your answers accordingly.
In your Study Zone, everything is perfect theory and perfect situation.
Read ALL of the answer choice before choosing a response.
Utilize Maslow! Physiological needs will take priority over psychosocial needs.
NEVER delegate: assessment, teaching or evaluation.
Delegate based on competency not preference.
Choose open-ended questions. This provide for therapeutic communication.
You should choose to stay with the client if all physiological needs have been met.
Remember the 3 components for psychosocial questions:Reality, validation and Reorientation.
Choose responses that give true, factual information.
Memorize normal lab values.
Be familiar with sign and symptoms of abnormal lab values.
Review standard norms. Do not choose responses based on your own experience
Let us add you to the NCLEX Wall of Fame

Where are you from? We are actually on the same shoes. I'm also a foreign trained nurse from the Philippines. This would be my 2nd time taking the NCLEX and I still feel that I am not ready. I already got a test date which is by November. I'm doing self-review since I can't afford taking review classes. They are pretty pricey. Just relax and take your time studying nursing content and andwering practice questions. When are you taking the exam?
