Anytime you do a presentation you need to have a plan - so you need to ask yourself several questions: how long is this presentation suppose to last? what are the objectives of this presentation (what are you suppose to be telling or teaching the class)? am I allowed to use visual aids like a power point presentation or overheads?
Then gather your information and organize it according to your objectives.
Make your visual aids to go along with your topic. Practice Practice Practice - to do a good presentation you have to know your material. A good rule of thumb is plan on twice as much material as you think you need because if you talk fast due to nervousness you will zip through your material. If you are presenting as a group then you all need to run through your presentations and can critique each other. Good luck!

Excellent advice. The nervous system is such a vast and broad topic, so definitely need to narrow down. One could lecture for months (even years ) on this topic! What are your guidelines for this project? It is also always a good idea to seek clarification from your instructor, if you are unsure or confused about some of the guidelines.
Nice resources here :)

Hi, Ann!
If you look at any anatomy book you will get an idea of how they present any information of any body system. They usually begin by giving a presentation of the physical anatomy. You could easily do this with a nice poster you draw. Then, they go through the various parts making up the physical anatomy and talk about how each part works and contributes to the system. This is the physiology part. If you and your fellow students have all had to take an anatomy and physiology course then your anatomy and physiology part of your presentation should only be a brief review to refresh everyone's memory. Your major focus would then end with the next subject, some pathophysiology. That is pointing out some major nervous system diseases and why they occur. They occur, you point out, because something has gone wrong with the physiology, or working, of one or more of the parts or processes within the neuro system. If your guidelines for the presentation has asked for it, you might point out that the medical treatment for the disease will be aimed at attempting to correct or try to bring back to as normal functioning as possible the part of the neuro system that has been "broken".
I think this is probably what your instructor might be looking for with these presentations. Of course, I could be totally wrong, but I went through nursing school 30+ years ago and the pathophysiology of diseases is what we focused on in our nursing classes. It is important that the other 5 members of your group are also doing the same format in presenting their body systems as well for congruency and to give nice evidence of over all planning to the entire project.
I hope these ideas helped. Good luck with the project. Don't be a stranger to the student forums. Post back and let us know how the presentation went.
