NEED HELP! PLEASE

Published

I have been dealing with becoming a Nurse for what seems a century. I studied at ITT TECH in Miami, finished all the courses, clinicals... but was never able to pass EXIT HESI , a requirement to graduate... I was studying to take the exam one more time when in September 2016 the school closed. Ordered my transcripts and they state academic withdrawal.. I never withdrew, just never passed the EXIT HESI... so my transcripts do not state I have an Associates in Science for Registered Nurse. I sent my transcripts to the Board of Nursing and they stated that ITT TECH had to write a letter stating that I completed the program satisfactorily and then I would be considered to sit for NCLEX... I was told by one of my nursing teachers at ITT that I should contact ******** from MRU Miami Regional Univeristy that he was the only person that could write the letter to the BON to have my transcripts accepted. It has been 5 months, 50 emails, 60 phone calls and the only thing I received was an email a few weeks ago stating when your letter is ready we will let you know. I have tried to make appointments face to face and nothing seems to get done. I cannot take my situation.... I was laid off of work on March...2017 and right now things are not good.. I am a single mother and wish to be a registered nurse... not only will I have a stable employment... but will be able to provide for my daughter... PLEASE... IS THERER ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME???? where can I go? In Miami to resolve this... or do I have to move to another state?????

I am DESPERATE to close this chapter of my life and start a new one as an RN

Thank you

1) Please remove your personal information.

2) You did not pass your required exam, thus you did not graduate from college. Why would you be able to sit for the boards?

You state that the exit HESI was required to graduate, and you did not pass it. Therefore, you did not graduate. I feel bad for this ****** person, who seems to have nothing to do with the situation beyond one of your instructors at ITT telling you to talk to him. Have you really been emailing or calling him every weekday for the last 5 months?

You don't the full story therefore, why do you ASSUME I did not pass.... they took out the requirement of graduation of EXIT HESI.... before the school. closed.... please don't be so quick to judge.

I didn't assume you did not pass. You stated that you did not pass, and you stated that passing the exit HESI was a requirement to graduate. Logically, since you did not pass the exit HESI, you did not graduate. I am only going off of the information you provided.... It's right there in your first post...

They may have taken out the requirement of passing before the school closed, but don't automatically assume that applies to you. I am not sure what ITT's policies are/were, but the institutions I have familiarity with linked your declaration of major or program to the academic catalog/policies for that year. That way, when they changed policies, it would only affect people that are new/incoming. This is because academic programs change requirements frequently.

I'm sorry you have to go through this, but at this point, it might be better to see how your credits would transfer to a BSN program and go that route.

Please change your screen name since you are not a nurse.

It seems the only thing you can do is start over. The pre reqs *might* transfer (you have a slim chance at that) but the nursing courses definitely won't. If you want to be a nurse you can become an LVN & bridge to become an RN. There is no shame in that; LVNs are nurses as well.

You didn't pass the exit HESI so you didn't get to take the NCLEX. The only option that leaves is to try to get into another nursing program. This time try a community college as it will be cheaper & it won't shut down on you.
