hello and Merry Christmas!
I just found out that i passed Nclex RN today. I would like to know what avenues shall I take first. Do i need a certain special certification if I wanna work in Operating Room, Recovery Room, ICU, ICCU, emergency or telemetry unit? I plan to take MA degree as soon as we become settled financially. I have experience overseas (London) as a neuro surgery nurse, None in here tho.
thanks

Usually certification is optional, however I think you should ask your employer whta they would like you to do in order to qualify for your job. Usually you can find this information under the applicant qualification section of the application you filled out.
i havent applied yet since i just found out I passed nclex rn today. I was browsing online about the qualifications of the RN's they need and it is just basic. Does OR have special certifications to be hired (in general)?
Thanks
Again, I think you should speak to potential employers. Are you a new grad without experience? Because if you are you will be provided with training and whatever else they require you to have.
If this does not help, try to post this question in the OR nurses forum. Its located under the nursing specialties section. The nurses on that forum may be more helpful.
I am not a newly grad. I have experience overseas (3 years Saudi Arabia E.R, and 4 years in London, England as a Neuro Surgery Nurse (acute/post op/high dependency care) but i never work here in USA.
Thanks so much for the reply. i will check the nursing specialties section. I might ask employers as well. Thanks again.
