I am deciding what to do for the rest of my life... scary stuff.
Should I become a LPN first and become an RN later on so I can get my foot in the door and make it more likely for me to get a job as an RN?
Or should I go for the ADN program now and hope the job market will get better for new grads and ADN grads... I almost feel I shouldnt even go for my dream of being a nurse because it feels like I will be unemployed for awhile. Even rural hospitals want BSNs now..

I thought the same thing...but the prob is many new grads will not relocate for a job. I decided to be a cna...and then a pct (I am now). I get to do everything a nurse does minus make care plans and give meds. I c an draw blood...and do ekgs :3 I love it. Also, I am studying pre nursing and they will accommodate my schedule even when I'm in the program. They are going to make me a position here in the ER then ill stay here as a nurse for a year then hopefully move to atlanta and go for my bsn there :3

Oh hun - if you think you "get to do everything a nurse does minus make care plans and give meds", you are clueless. The fact that you think that a nurse's role is defined by tasks . . . you have not really begun to understand the scope of nursing practice. You may be performing the tasks, but an RN is responsible for all the work that you do.
Don't place all your hopes on promises of future jobs. The health care industry is changing rapidly - no one really knows what is going to be happening in 6 months, let alone a year or so. Managers cannot just 'create' jobs to provide employment for even the most deserving students or new grads. Please make sure you have a 'plan B' in case all those promises don't work out like you want them to.
