Here is the problem:
The client receives an order for Augmentin 125 milligrams. The Augmentin is labeled 125 milligrams in 5 milliliters. The client will be given______________?
Am I supposed to answer in ml? If so wouldn't the answer be 5 milliiters. ???
Is there an easier way to figure this out. I am doing it by S/H = x/D
Thanks in advance for your help.
This one confused me too.
The patient is ordered Demerol syrup 60 milligrams orally every 4 hours as needed for pain. The Demerol label reads, Demerol syrup 50 milligrams in 5 milliliters. Give_______________
I did the proportion method and came up with 6 milliliters. Is this right. Also whenever you get a calculation like this where they mention milligrams in liters the ultimate answer will be in mls right?
Thanks again,
D

5 ml is correct.
D/H * V = Q
D: Desired Dose
H: Dose/Supply on Hand
V: Vehicle (capsule, amp, etc... but sure to include numerical value)
Q: Quantity
Hope that helps!
the second on is 6ml. if it is a liquid, use the liquid measurement. you're not going to be weighing liquid in the field.
