I'm only a highschool student but im graduating this year, im taking AP anatomy, AP physiology, AP physics and AP chem. I've wanted to be anurse for the longest time. But they pay isn't that good because i have to help mantain my family plus my mom's medical bills and such. So i decided to be a CRNA i've been accepted to emory but i dont have the money to pay for it so im taking the prerequistes at a community college and then transfering. I really want to help people and save lives will being a CRNA not fulfill that?
i am not at all trying to discourage you but you need to start with getting your BSN first. you cant just start a CRNA program with out it. it is an advanced practice RN. also you need critical care expierence. which being a new grad RN you will probably need to work in another area before getting a job in a critical care unit because you need general nursing expierence. it is a great goal but there are steps you need to take. i live in connecticut and around here the CNRA programs also require that you maintain a 3.5 gpa through out nursing school. it is defiantly good pay to be a CRNA but its a lot of work to get there. the programs are very competitive and you are recieving your masters degree after. so the whole thing in total is going to be a minimum of 8 years of school with 2 years of critical care expierence in the middle. defiantly i would say stick with it but just realize that it is not something you can just fly through and it will be a challenging course to follow! good luck on everything!!

Thanks juliaann! We home schooled up until we found this school and then switched because of this great opportunity. I tell her it is an equivalent to a $10k scholarship, don't waste it! She is such a good kid - today we were in Walmart where she said to me, "Wait, Mom". She went up to a stranger in a motorized cart and helped them put their pop cases on the belt. She has such a heart to help people, she is going to make a great nurse. She is smart and has a huge heart. Yup - I'm very proud!
