Hi everyone:
Im a 4th year student (school just started yesterday) and my focus is maternity. We are going to present a seminar soon and here are the lists of topics to choose. The one im interested in is perinatal loss and grief but during break i went to microwave my food and another girl took this topic. Later i communicated with her and asked her in a nice way how much is she interested in this topic? she told me to pick another topic and this is topic is boring, i said it is not boring because i can do it in different cultures(how different countries deal with baby loss) and she kept silent. Im like.........."i just sold my idea for free eh?" later she wrote me saying she is not giving up the topic and i have to choose another one and "im sure teacher will help you finding another one"
I am angry, anyway
here are the topics
preterm labour and implications for the infant
management of twin and multiple pregancies/infants implications
post date pregnancies and implications for the infant
group b strep during the perinatal period: antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum
hiv in the perinatal period
mood disorders in the perinatal period
substance abuse in the perinatal period with infant implications
perinatal loss and grief
obstetric emergencies
hypertensive disorders of pregnancy/HELLP Syndrome
gestational diabetes/Diabetes in Prenancy and effect on the Newborn
Preterm Birth and Developmental Issues
Genetic Disorders e.g. down syndrome, trisomy 13, 18, cystic fibrosis, prader willi syndrome
congenital heart defects
DKA in the child or adolescent
repiratory assessment and illness in the paediatric patient
paediatric head injury
fluid and electrolyte imbalance in the paediatric patient
these are the topics, however i feel all of them are factoral and boring and the presentation will be 50 minutes long and ppl will fall into sleep
except the grief and loss, it will be interesting
we can aslo use other topics if we can think of i cant think of any right top on my mind
so i need help, suggestions, and even
if anyone can help me making these boring topics interesting in my presentation that will be great
expecially experienced nurses' ideas are welcomed!
millions thanks!
