Hi
I have a patient I'm doing a care plan on and I'm having difficulties related to this patient's diagnoses. Here goes....
Patient is 11 month old female, diagnosed with hypoplastic right heart syndrome, atrial septal defect at birth. the child has had a PDA litigation and a BT shunt during previous visits to the hospital. the child is now presenting with hypoxia (satting at %86-%92 with coughing and shortness of breath). a sibling of the child has a cold/flu, at home.
Now I'm not quite sure if the hypoxia was always there due to the heart conditions, but exacerbated by a possible cold/flu the child is getting OR if the hypoxia is purely from the heart conditions.
I am thinking for the hypoxia I would need to make a diagnosis of Impaired gas exchange but I have no idea where to go with this :redpinkhe
Thank You!
