Need help asap! Nashville area nurses

Published

hi

I'm a 5/05 grad and licensed nurse from Memphis, TN. I'm getting married in December and relocating to Nashville. I talked to several recruiters from Vanderbilt, Centennial, St thomas/baptist, VA hospital. I asked about new grad base pay rates in the area. I asked each place and it ranged from $17.04/hr -$17.85/hr with no sign on bonuses :o Are they being straight forward about pay? I let it slip that I didn't know at all about the pay in Nashville. In Memphis,TN, the lowest base pay is $19.60/hr and they offered $5k signing bonus for 2 yr commitments at a few hospitals in Memphis, TN. So I'm a little disappointed. Also, I'm interested in Surgery. but Nashville area hospitals said you had to have 1 yr experience for the job. In Memphis, TN they hire new grads for interships. Also, can anyone give their opinions of the above hospitals mentioned above? sorry for the ton of questions. I need to get a job asap.

cutehumor,

Those are accurate pay rates for new grads in Nashville. St Thomas has a class for Critical Care and does hire new grads for it. (higher pay, also) There aren't any sign-on bonuses that I know of anywhere in Nashville.

Hi Cutehumor,

I am kind of facing the same issue yu are facing. I graduate in December and got an offer @ Methodist in Memphis (OR SURGERY) but I prefer to live in Nashville. My offer is Nashville is with Vandy (peds). Memphis has loan repayment and better package but I still hope to take the pay cut and go for nashville.

St Thomas in Nashville has the OR internship also. So u may want to apply there.
