Hello everyone. I have a question for you all. I am a pre-nursing student (although I did not start yet). I am currently enrolled to take my general pre-reqs. I would be starting next week (June 6th). I had received a phone call from a family member in NJ and received bad news. Anyways, I am really going to have to fly out to be with my family, but my problem is I am enrolled into school for next week. I am really dedicated and excited to start school, but I know that I really have to see my family, it's important and I have to be with them at a time like this... basically my sister is in really bad health (I won't get into it). I had received Financial Aid for the Summer semester of school which I would have been attending full-time. My question is... can I drop classes a week in advance and start next semester? Or would this cause me to not be able to get financial aid again? I was hoping they would just move my classes up for Fall semester and the financial aid that they used to pay for my summer, they can use to pay for my fall. Not sure if this is realistic or not.

I would recommend that you contact your school's financial aid office immediately and ask them these questions.
There are several factors that we cannot tell here. Does your school group summer aid/awards to an academic year, or do they have a separate summer budget? If they are grouped with an academic year, are they in the 2010-11 or 2011-12 year?
Call your financial aid office and ask about their policies.
Yeah, I will try giving them a call Tuesday. Not sure. But I know that my summer was around the same as fall, for 2010-11. I have both semesters paid for at the moment.
