Hello! I am in my last semester of nursing school and am new to the forums :) I am nervous about the NCLEX... more about the procedure to take the NCLEX than the actual test. Where can I get information regarding the NCLEX? Like, how do I sign up for the NCLEX? Where can I take the test? When can I take the test?
Also, when do you suggest I take the test if I am graduating in May? Do you suggest taking an NCLEX review class? Should I jump into a new grad program or focus on passing the boards first?
Any help and suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Concentrate on passing the boards 1st.
http://www.ncsbn.org for the list of BON websites and read the 2006 NCLEX candidate bulletin

Your school should be providing you with all of the information that you will need for applying for licensure. You need to do that before you can actually register for the NCLEX exam.
Best suggestion for you is to look at the website for your state's BON, and see what they have posted for the License BY Examination application. That will give you the basics of what they will be looking for.
My choice is to have the nurse take and pass the NCLEX before starting the job rituals. You need to be able to devote yourself to preparation for the exam, and with a new job, you will have much extra work to do for that.
Good luck with finishing this last semester..............

Can your school prevent you from being able to take NCLEX? Is there something that they need to send to the state saying that you can sit for the boards?
The school needs to send a completed set of transcripts to the Board of Nursing for the student to get approval to even sit for the exam. And this is for each and every BON in the US. All require completed transcripts, both for US grads, as well as foreing grads.
Oh Okay. My school wants us to take the ATI test before we graduate. We have to get a certain percentage, which has yet to be dermined (?). If we dont get whatever that % is then they wont send the "letter" to the state. If we can request a transcript be sent to the SBON, what letter could they be talking about?

my school is require something like yours. They said that we may have to take to Hesi exit exam or ERI and make the national average or passing score in order to sit for boards. they call this "endorsement". They said that if we do not pass, then we want get endorsement for the boards.
