Hi there! I am tring to come up with activities for ED nurses week. We thought it would be fun to nominate our fellow nurses for awards. We need more categories with some funny names for nursing awards.
So far we have come up with:
HAZMAT Award (Most likely to strap on "HAZMAT" gear and help out with a "code brown")
Sharp Shooter Award (Best IV starter...the nurse that actually CAN draw blood from a turnip)
Golden Diaper Award (2010/2011 Rookie of the Year)
The Betty Crocker Clean House Award (Nurse you would most like to follow
at change of shift)
Project Runway Award (Most Professional Appearance)
Computer Hacker Award (Most thorough documentation)
Let it slide award (The nurse who can always remain professional and compassionate even with the most irritating frequent flyers)

Here are a few I thought of:
The Yoda Award - the "go to" person that seems to know every policy or procedure or fact.
The Pedi-Whisperer - (or add other patient population) the nurse who is excellent dealing with that type of patient.
The Poop Magnet - the one nurse who seems to get all the critical patients or Code Blues in the ER.
(this is my nickname BTW)
Awesome ideas! Thanks

Mmmk, newer to ER so bare with me here....
Gatekeeper Award/Bouncer Award- for best at triage. Those who knows how to handle the waiting area, juggle family, prep the patients best, and identify criticals that need to go directly back to be seen.
Superman RN/Fearless Leader award: that RN who somehow handles all crisis situations (computers going down, demanding patients, facilities that are sending patients away/to us without a clue in the world) without that RN you may just drown some nights (obviously a senior charge nurse).
Can you rename Betty Crocker Award with Mr. Clean or Brawny Man(to account for anti-tornado effect rooms, patients, and otherwise?) Then Betty Crocker is for the RN who brings food regularly, cooks, etc.
Murphy's Law Award: Anything that can go wrong, will ....be assigned to this RN. Meaning the code brown nurse or demanding patients/freq fliers.
Perfect Attendance: The RN who picks up overtime, most dependable, rarely calls off.

How about the Martha Stewart Award, for that extra neat and tidy nurse?
The Patient Whisperer, to the nurse that seems to have a knack for defusing even the most disagreeable of patients.

We do the Golden Urinals... a spoof off of the Golden Globes. Best RN, tech, PA/NP, physician...
Us night shift nurses have a much more humorous version of the Golden Urinals.
Great Ideas! Thanks all!
