Hello, for my Fall semester I need to communicate with a nurse from a different country. This will give me a chance to know the joys, challenges and other issues faced by my international colleagues. Any takers. Thanks. :chuckle

Sure, we can always talk.
Thanks so much.
I am a tele. nurse for the last 7 years. I went back to school in 2008 and am almost done with BSN. I start my NP classes this semester.
Do you mind telling me a bit about yourself. Thanks.
I am a PhD student. I have a BScN and a MN. I have 5 years nursing experience mostly as a pediatric oncology nurse, I also have a small background in public health. Nice meeting you.
Thanks for your prompt responses. It is very nice of you!! Much appreciated.
Pediatric Oncology is a great field. It takes a special person; someone with a truly compassionate heart to take care of children so young and so sick. I feel totally overwhelmed by this field. I am sure it is difficult yet rewarding. Some years ago i read a great article by an oncology RN. Mostly it was how children deal with impending death and are infact able to comfort their grieving families and themselves.
How is school? Do you go back this week? Do you work full time?
It is kind of exciting to talk with a nurse from a different country. Take care! Neelum

I returned to school yesterday. "Professional Issues in Nursing." and "Statistics"
Working full time and school is not easy. Will feel better in a week or 2.
With the bruised economy, the nurses here are feeling the crunch. Our hospital is on a hiring freeze and overtime is rare. How is the situation in Canada!
Take care!
I sent you a mail, I hope you recieved it. We can start talking from there. The situation is really good over here. Many hospitals are hiring. There is still a nursing shortage. I think the last thing I heard is that the economy is picking up. Im glad you return'd to school. Thats really good. Let me know if you need help with that.
Hello again,
Glad to hear that Canadian hospitals are still hiring. Interesting!
Our new grads are having an extremely difficult time finding jobs! It is sad to see them so discouraged.
There was always a nursing shortage. But the situation changed quite dramatically this past year. I believe too many people are turning to nursing as a 2nd degree.
Do you have ADN (2 year associate degree) in Canada? What is the average age of a new grad?
Thanks.
