Need answers urgently

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi to you all.

I took my Nclex exams on Saturday March 3, 2018. It was frustrating because I took Red Bull and had to visit the washroom often. I also sat for many days reading so I was tired sitting there answering questions. I had 208 questions in 4hours.

Before coming to America, I was already an RN for many years in my country. I also happened to be Physician Assistant. I practiced in my country and won awards. I never failed an exam. Back in my country, the RN license exams consisted of Medical surgical nursing, obs/gyn, public health, pediatrics, pharmacology, project work on patient with presentation of case before examiners, psychiatry, etc. In all these, you would be asked to define disease conditions, write theory on pathophysiologies, give diagnoses on cases, describe signs and symptoms, give pharmacological management and Nursing management, complications etc. It would take 5 days to write the exams. On your day, you would be given a patient in the teaching Hospital and asked to take history, make diagnoses and offer Nursing management without looking at the folder. You would then be given two specific Nursing procedures to perform on the patient. It can be any procedure from I.V access to last offices or bed bathing. You would be given another day to perform two more procedures on a patient in the hospital. All these while, you would have external examiners standing before you and rating. I was able to pass that like many of my colleagues.

Here in USA, I quit my job and used a whole month or two to prepare. I bought books. I answered over 1000+ questions.

You know, I had to report my BON before my ATT was issued. So even when I was taking the exam, the processssing time had not reached my date of submission to be issued the ATT(according to my BreEze Account). After the exams on Saturday, I did the PVT about 3 hours later and got the bad pop up. Its been 4 days and I still have the bad pop. Whiles it's not even time to issue me ATT on my breeze account. Right after the exams, I registered to retake the exams and the system allowed me. I paid without seeing the official results. The problem is my account says "results not available " on Pearsonvue. I called Cali BON and was told my results were not sent to them. That's after 48 hours. I chatted Pearsonvue today and was told to contact my BON and should also do the quick results test but California doesn't participate in it. I realized the guy have no information for me.

I am sad but strong even though this would turn out to be my first ever fail in an exam. I tried going to the library to start reading. I am also trying to order one more book and to register for unworld but the system is so slow in releasing my results. I don't want to commit so much money into it only to end up passing when results are ready but I also want to take the exams immediately on the 45th day if it turn out I failed and not preparing adequately would affect me badly. I need to start work immediately.

Who is 100% sure the PVT reflects the reality and that I should spend the money in preparing for a retake even without the official results which might take weeks to come?

I would say wait for the final letter from your BON, then take whatever necessary review you planning to get. I took the test last tuesday, and did the pvt trick and got a good pop up, so its still works. But i dont wanna gave you false hope with your situation, cause i read on some that they got a bad pop up and ended up passing. Good luck to you!
