hey guys,
i need your input and advice...i am having an interview with utmb for bacc2 program spring2010 this coming friday, my gpa is very very good with 4.0. in all sciences. again, i apply to another school to run the one year lvn program which i have been accepted for spring2010, i had a bachelor degree in science before. i was advice that since i had a nice gpa, finished all my prequis for nursing and also a degree in science, i should go for lvn program for one year, get my license then go for the bsn at my best convenient... it will be more easier.
i am confuse and nervous because someone also told me that because of the high volume of applicant for the bsn program, utmb have started eliminating candidate with ati testing. i am positive that with what i got right now, i will be selected but not sure about the ati test and competitiveness of the program. sometimes no guarantee
can someone tell me what is best for me right now...your suggestion is highly welcome
thanks

I don't think the ATI test applies to you if you applied for the spring, on the website it says fall applicants have to take that test. If you get into UTMB I would go to nursing school now. You can go further with an rn license that an LVN license. If you do both you will end up spending more time in school. If you want it to be easier you may ask them to put you in the traditional program instead of the Bacc2 program.

Hi, I also got my acceptant letter today, ie. Monday, to the BACC2 program. Whew....
I would deeply appreciate it if any nursing student from UTMB BACC2 class that started in the Spring 2009 could be our mentor by giving us more insights and advices about:
1. what is a typical studying day, and the whole semester,
2. how is the clinical integrated into a very heavy workload at school,
3. especially, how many of us in a BACC2 class could make it to the final graduation day, (do we have some failed out of the program, some withdrew, some quitted...like I heard...which is not scarry but big concerns)
4. what is an average grade one could earn, I honestly mean that if it is at all possible for us BACC2 nursing student to earn an A in such a heavy work load of 20 credit hours per semester.
Thank you.

I really think you should probably go through the BACC2 program if you can get in. The group that's interviewing now was not expected to take the ATI test beforehand. That's just for the Fall 2010 students. If you get an LVN then get your BSN you're going to end up spending two to three times the amount of time and money to reach the same goal as if you just did the BACC2 program.
