Need Advice!!!!

In my opinion your situation isnt going to help you to be sure. Looking at things from another perspective however, think of this. Coming from a traditional student I would say that yes your chances might be pretty well shot; but then agian your not a traditional student. You are an adult learner or what colleges often refer to as a "non-traditional Student". As a non-trad student it is understood that sometimes work gets in the way. I am not saying that being a non-trad student gives you a get out of jail free card all the time, just that it puts you in a smaller pool of people that understand responsibility and have additional challenges to face along the way. I thin the best thing you can do when applying is to try and meet with the director of the programs you are most interested in and explain your circumstances to them. Many times directors of programs don't see perspective students unless there is to be an interview process, should you be able to secure a meeting however, you may find that they will be receptive to your situation. In your case honesty is the best policy. Further, you need to know that even if you explain your past shortcomings to them if they are to admit you into thier program they will expect full dedication from you as they are only looking to select canidates that are likley to complete the program. Often times this may mean not working or greatly reducing your hours. Nursing school is not easy by any measure, it's not quite medical school but with the amount of studying you will do it might as well be. Alot of people think that nursing school will be easy as they underestimate the nurses responsibilities and scope of practice. For example most people don't know that nurses also diagnose patients (although using a different diagnosis model). If you are accepted and when you start be sure to put your game face on, the information comes at you fast!

Actually, it looks like most of your grades are A's and B's, with B's in A&P, so you are in pretty good shape. Again, as I posted a reply to another post about doing poorly and how to recover and gain admission to nursing school, the best thing is to find a school you are interested in, make an appointment and explain the situation with microbiology. Naturally, they will say that nursing school will take up most of your time and that working during nursing school is not encouraged. So, for one you need to decide about your present work situation and if it is absolutely necessary while attending nursing school. People have different rates of learning, and as mentioned there is alot of info. in nursing school. You need to think about that for a moment before focusing in on getting accepted, then decide if worse came to worse while attending nursing school you saw that you couldn't work and go to school for one reason or another, could your wife hold down the fort. Also, you need to understand that nursing school has very erratic schedules, and it will change from semester to semester, mostly with regards to clinicals. Keep in mind clinical attendance is absolutely mandatory. I would think about these scenerios first then decide if you can do nursing school based on your situation. If you decide that yes you can attend, then again talk to a school you are interested in let them know your microbiology situation, then re take microbiology, make sure you have the time needed to put into it, as it can be a little more time consuming than many classes, get the grade you need, then apply, your past grades seem fine, you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting accepted.
