So here is my current situation
I have finished all my pre req except AP II and Micro.
I have a BA in Child Development
My options are to attend West Coast University BSN program which costs well over $80,000 and I'll likely be in debt after I graduate OR I can finish those 2 pre req classes then apply for a RN program at a community college, work a little, then do a bridge program.
OR I guess I could apply to those accelerated BSN programs or an entry level masters program.
I am still young, just turned 23 and I have a good job at Kaiser right now.
I am just REALLY confused on which route to take. I dread the thought of being in debt, yet want to hurry up and get this done!
Also does anyone know if you are on a waiting list for a nursing program and say one of your pre req expires while on the waiting list, does that mean you have to re-take the pre req and start from step 1 again?

If I were 23 with a BA (and had a crystal ball to know at age 39 I'd be seeking a MSN) I'd be looking at A-BSN or EL-MSN programs. The wait is likely to be less than an ADN program and definitely not ridiculously expensive like WCU.
What I understood collectively from all the community colleges I applied to that if I'm on record as having completed the prerequisities within the alotted time at the time of my accepted application I will have the option of repeating if I'm still waiting around by the time they expire. OMG if I am still waiting around in 3 more years when my A&P-1 expires!! :chuckle

debt isnt a big deal because its for your EDUCATION! there are doctors and lawyers coming out of school paying their (double or triple what you said west coast was) for their eduacation and paying it back!
so can you
so i mean all i am saying is that take debt out of the picture, because your going to have some sort of loans in debt when you get out anyway!
as far as the CC thing or just waiting or a masters. i would do a masters, that would be a cool accomplishment but again, for a nursing MA, your going to need some science in it i believe, (like if you got a BA in english or something) dont quote me,
but if you want to just get the 2 pre-req than go for it! it might be a little easier than a masters but if your young and like your job than dont worry because a nursing or masters program is time consuming enough
ok well
and my last bit of advice is since your work at a hospital maybe they can comp you for paying for tuition of you go get your BSN or MA in nursing
just try
there are several options with different outcomes.
