Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, everyone, I been using allnurses for awhile, but finally decided to create an account. I recently got 3 rejection letters from programs that I applied to. There's 2 more programs I'm still waiting for, but I'm not feeling too strongly about getting accepted by them. I live in the Bay Area, so I applied around the area. (Oakland, SJ, Fremont, Santa Cruz) I understand that's probably one of the reasons why I got rejected, since the Bay Area is very competitive. My science GPA is also low. (Anatomy-B, Physio-B, Micro-C) Along with my overall GPA 2.9. Teas: 78.7% I been volunteering at a hospital since November and they offered a job as an NA due to my work ethics. I'm planning on working there very soon and once I figure out my schedule with that; I'm planning on getting certified as an NA. I'm very depressed about my grades in science and feel like they are the main reason why I'm not getting accepted. Nursing is something that I really want to do. I'm also planning on applying all over California (North and South) the next time around and hopefully I get in next time. I just feel very stuck and need advice/guidance on what I should next. Thank you everyone!

@iCantDraw Thank you for the advice/tip and you're right I need to up my study methods. I just wrote my petition to retake Microbiology during the Fall which my counselor says usually always clear, especially for nursing students. The Nurse Manager from the hospital did ask me if I applied for the NA position yet, but the position hasn't been made available to the public yet. (Only available for hospital employees) I am still waiting until it is. As for right now I'm looking into CNA programs, so I can get certified in the mean time, which will give me some extra points for when I apply again. I'm doing everything I could think of at this moment that could get me points. Thank you so much everyone for commenting and the support. It is very encouraging. I really appreciate it.

Good luck, study like your future depends on it!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to update you guys about what happened the past year. I received my license as a CNA in September. I also accepted the position of Nursing Assistant at the hospital that I have been volunteering at and I have been working there for about a month now. I am currently retaking Microbiology. I have also attended 2 mandatory meetings for nursing programs that I am interested in.

However, today I just received an email of an opening position from a nursing program that I have been on the waitlist for!

Thank you so much everyone for taking your time out to respond to me. I am very appreciative and thankful for everything.
