Need advice- Long Island RN looking to become FNP

I have been a RN in the Emergency Dept. for almost 1 year now. I have come to the realization that I want to take the next step and advance my degree, even though it is so short in my career as a bedside Nurse. The problem is, i have no idea where to start looking. I want to start in january for spring of 2016, not sure if there are even programs that start in the middle of the school year. I have payed off all of my loans from undergrad, and am afraid to tack on more debt. I want to pay my schooling off out of pocket and go to school part time ideally while working as a staff nurse full time in the ED.

If anyone has advice on the BEST program to go to for FNP in the long island/ queens area please let me know. I was looking into stony brook but i heard that part of their program is half online and I am not sure about taking online courses or if the program is even good. I basically want the best program at the cheapest possible price. Any advice as to where i should look would be appreciated. Thank you all !

I know Stonybrook just recently revived their FNP program, so I can't tell you how good it is. I went to Stonybrook for AGNP and the hardest things I went thru were finding my own preceptors and very little support from faculty my first year in the program. They changed a lot of the staff so there is more support but I know they still have an onsite program in addition to their distance learning program. Molloy college and LIU CW post also have FNP programs.
