Hello Nurses!

I have a BSN in Nursing and am looking to go to the next level and get my Masters in Nursing. I wanted to know what are some legitimate online Masters in Nursing programs that are accredited. It would also be great to know the pros and cons of doing a online masters in nursing program from those who have done it previously. Thank you in advance ?

They accept students to start every month. I completed my MSN Leadership/Management through them, and did it in one 6 month semester. They are cost effective, very do-able with how you do the work, and accredited. Check out at wgu.edu for more info

Hi. Just wondering how you managed to complete all the courses in a 6 month semester? Do you mind elaborating more on the course structure? I've got 3 young kids, and work just weekends. Would it still be possible?

Thanks

It's do-able if you can devote time to it, and keep yourself diligent about the work. Depending on your kids ages and activities, you may take longer. My kids are grown and gone, but I was working in LTC at the time, and lots of OT.

The program itself is lots of papers and research, a couple of proctored tests, a couple of projects, and video recording doing a physical assessment.

Their young, but in school during the day. It seems that there are about 14 courses. Is this correct? I just completed my BScN online and the most courses I ever took were 3. It didnt seem feasible at all to take anymore than that. I cant imagine taking all 14ish at the same time.

Another question, do you know of any Canadian nurses who have taken this program? Im having the hardest time trying to figure out if there would be any reason why it wouldn't be valued here in Canada.

I don't know if it is accepted for Canada, that is something that you would have to call or email to find out. You don't do the 14 courses at the same time. You do one at a time, at your own pace, which it is why it is successful. A semester is 6 months, so you have 26 weeks to get it done. I completed 1-2 courses per week, so was done well before the end of the semester. If you've been a nurse very long, experience will help with much of it
