Okay guys...I am currently a new grad who has worked as a Nursing Assistant and a Unit Secretary in this particular hospital for 5 years. Never a bad evaluation..always got a raise..no problems..so when time came to graduate school...NO RN job!! But yet some of my classmates who have never worked a job in their lives got jobs at that hospital right off the bat?! I dont get it...I would think that hospitals would hire their own before hiring outside. I guess I was naive to think that I would never have a problem finding a RN job because I already worked in a hospital and had a GREAT record. I would think that they would want someone who knows about the hospital...easier to train in some ways. Any thoughts?? I really dont get it.

Are you so valuable in your present postition that they would hate to get rid of you? That may be a naive idea...but possible. I would just be applying, shaking hands, calling over and over again at all hospitals in the area. My Grandad always said..."If you want a job, you just keep showing up and asking for it until they're so sick of seeing you asking...they just go ahead and hire you"....Wise and undereducated brilliant man.
