Hi Everyone.

First off, I want to say how glad I am that I found a website that I can talk to other pre-nursing students as well as nurses that have completed school. :nurse:

Here is where my story begins. I started at BCC back in 2001 and did well the first 2 semesters but then ending up slacking off and my grades slipped (down to 2.75:crying2:.) So I was detered from going back & than started back this spring (after having 2 little boys in the midst of this time! Let me tell you. It's real motivation to get back in school!:D.)

Anyway, I got 3 A's & 1 B (made dean's list:yeah:) and current GPA is 3.2. I'm taking A&PII now and only have Microbiology(spring 2009) & Med administration(winter 2008) left. My goal is to get my GPA back up as high as I can to get into the nursing program (by 2008). I'm taking classes that aren't even part of my pre-req's to accomplish this!

I wanted to get my BSN so I was planning to go to Rutgers in fall of 2008 but the transfer office said that Rutgers doesn't even have enough places for their own students. So it was suggested to me to stay at BCC and take classes towards a BSN in the meantime. Since Fairleigh Dickson has classes at the BCC campus, I may do this.

Here is my dilemna (I know you are probably like get to your point already!). Should I just start over to get my BSN (at Rutgers, Holy Family, UMDNJ, etc) or should I expect any luck in getting into this program at BCC and just work towards my BSN if I have to wait for acceptance?

I guess like most nursing students, (especially at BCC), from how the other students talk about this program, it's almost impossible to get in. And I know GPA is a big part & my GPA is VERY low right now. I'm just worried that if I don't get in after 1 or 2 attempts, that I'll just be wasting my time.

Help!!:banghead:

Thanks

Jillian :typing

Hi, I am also attending BCC hoping to get into the nursing program. I have some old Rutgers credits from 10 yrs ago. So I don't have any answers for you, but some of the same questions :) Are you applying for Fall 2009? I am going to give it a shot. I have to take A&P II & Microbiology this Spring and then I am done with pre-reqs. I'm also going to check out Lady of Lourdes and apply there too. I DO remember at the BCC open house they said as long as you MEET the GPA requirements, that is all that is taken into account-there is no preference given for higher GPA's. Please keep in touch and let me know how you make out!

I'm also a pre-nursing student at BCC. I'm in A&PII also this semester (you wouldn't happen to be in the Friday nite class?) anywho...BCC doesn't really take your GPA into account. I spoke with the department head at one of the open houses and she told me that as long as you meet the GPA requirement that you are okay, they don't really place that much weight on it. What they are really looking for is having most if not all of your prereq's done. I applied for Spring 09 but I also applied to some other schools as well b/c I don't plan on staying at BCC forever waiting to get accepted. As a Rutgers Camden graduate I must tell you that it is pretty tough getting into the program. I had classmates with great gpa's that still were not able to get accepted. Hope any of this helps!!
