Need advice on advancing my nursing degree

Published

Hi all, I am new to this site. I found you guys from a friend at work. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I hope it is acceptable. Wow, what a world of information here! My dilemma is that I am trying to advance my nursing career. I eventually want to be a teacher but I am hearing that it doesn't pay much, and working in the hospital is more lucrative. I am currently working on a busy surgical unit. I have a ASN, but I also have a bachelors in political science from before I went to nursing school. Several of the people I work with are currently enrolled in Walden University. I followed suit and am scheduled to start in the Masters program in June to get a MSN in Education. I am starting to have second thoughts about this from some of the reviews I have read online. I am doing so many searches about online nursing programs and there seems to be TONS of them out there. I am very confused at this point. I am wondering if it is even worth it to get a MSN in education, or something else. I really don't like management or Informatics. Even though I have a bachelors, it is not in nursing, and from what I can tell I would have to either go to school to get my BSN or do a RN to MSN program. Walden said the MSN will take me a little over two and a half years. I am wondering if I should go ahead and do a program for around a year and get the BSN or go for the Masters. I don't even know if these online colleges are good or not. I see so many mixed things online. If anyone has any advice or suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it.
